life's little pleasures

I really like books that have a piece of ribbon sewn into the binding to serve as a permanent book-mark. I consistently lose the loose variety.

they are good. I gave up with bookmarks years ago after losing so many so fast that there didn't seem any point. I'm now one of those creatures hated by bibliophiles; the page folder.

Still it could be worse, my mum tends to just open the book wide on the page she's on and then mash it into the floor.

I think it's just a side effect of doing an english literature degree - books have caused me to lose so much sleep, have caused me so much boredom and distress, that I no longer consider them worthy of respect.
